Notes: Butia capitata is the most cold hardy of the feather-leafed palms. It has tasty, edible fruit. The species is considerably variable in nature. Plants are seed produced and show variable trunk height, trunk thickness, leaf color, fruit color and taste. There is some variation in plant hardiness and adaptability. It grows better in zones colder than USDA Hardiness Zone 10b.
